Uninstall Bulky Adobe Reader…Go for Lighter Alternative!
To create/read PDF files, Adobe Acrobat Reader is definitely one of the important software to install on your PC. But unfortunately, over past few years, it is becoming more bloated, slow & bulky program to handle.
Most of the people don’t know about this, that Adobe Reader when opens launches several other applications with it.
One tries to connect to the Adobe’s website to look for updates and sticks itself to system startup, and the other is something like “ADOBECLEANUP.001” that stays in the System’s Memory and remains there until you reboot.
Latest version 9 of adobe reader is supposed to be something like 20% faster, but again it opens multiple applications with itself.
In Internet Browsers we have also seen it working as a plugin, If you’re using it with internet explorer or Firefox, when you open a PDF, it eats more memory while the Firefox is open, and won’t be unloaded until you close or restart the program.
So! My simple advice to you people is to dump Adobe Reader for the sake of faster computing, and install its better, faster and smaller alternative, named as “FOXIT Reader”
Developed by Foxit Software, this free program reads PDF files just as Adobe’s pdf reader…with incredible small size (only 2.57 MB download size), it open pdf files at breezing-fast launch speed without any delay and it has a rich feature set.
* Supports all Windows versions.
* No more waiting for stupid splash window to disappear just to open a PDF document.
* With a handy button called “Text Viewer”, you may convert the whole PDF document into a simple text file.
* In internet browsers, unlike adobe pdf reader, it quickly loads pdf files in an external FOXIT window (not in your browser), keeping light on memory.
* And the best part of this tools that, it’s all contained in a single executable file that means you can even carry it around on a USB flash drive, without any installation on other PCs to read pdf files.
