Gmail: Get Pop up Notifications of Emails and Chat on Your Desktop

Gmail has recently introduced an exciting new feature of desktop notification of new incoming emails right on your desktop. Now you never have to check your emails by switching to your Gmail inbox to check new emails. This is also applicable to chat messages from your Gmail chat box.

To enjoy this new feature all you need to do is to go to Gmail setting page (link is at the right top of your Gmail inbox) and under “desktop notifications”, enable the notification options by selecting the appropriate options.

If you just want to get notified about chat messages, or if you use Priority Inbox and only want to get notifications for important messages, you can customize your settings from there too.

But unfortunately this feature can only be enjoyed by Google Chrome users currently, but Gmail team is working for the compatibility with other browsers too. (Click here to download latest version of Google Chrome)

Anyhow this new feature is great start with new HTML 5 standards and with the instant desktop notifications, you’d never miss your emails when they arrive.
