At Google they are constantly trying to improve Chrome browser to meet the rapidly evolving web standards and so far they are doing a great job. Their previous stable release version 5 showed a pretty good performance and gained a lot of interest from users looking for lighter and faster web browser.

Their new under development Chrome 6 is undergoing some major changes. As expected, the latest dev channel release is now labeled Google Chrome 6. The version 6 is just a regular update, fixing several bugs on all supported platforms, Windows, Mac and Linux. No new features have been added since the previous dev channel release, Google Chrome 5.0.396.0. The update fixes some issues with how Chrome handles the shortened addresses displayed in the Omnibox.

Recently, Google Chrome started removing the http:// from the displayed addresses. It didn’t really make sense to show it in the vast majority of cases and the move was generally viewed as the right one. However, there are cases when you need the http:// prefix, especially when copying an address.

An issue affecting this functionality has been fixed in the latest release. The http:// would be added to the clipboard even when copying only part of the address.
So far no new “major” change has been reported to be included in version 6. Since being an open source it is always available for users to download and test anytime.

At this time (as of June 25, 2010) Google Chrome v6.0.437.3 is the latest build of Chrome Dev Edition.
