[How-To] Convert Your Windows 7 System into a WiFi Router
Windows 7 came with a wonderful feature of Ad Hoc Network through which you can create temporary network on a system to allow other wireless devices to connect to it to share files and even internet connection. But the feature has so many limitations that Connectify overcomes.
Connectify is a small, free but very useful little application for Windows which works as a software router for laptops and smart phones. With Connectify, you can create WiFi hotspot and wirelessly share any Internet connection to other wireless enabled devices. Other Wi-Fi enabled devices can see and join your Connectify hotspot just like any other Wi-Fi access point and are kept safe and secure by password-protected WPA2 Encryption.
You don’t need any cables, access point or expertise to setup a WiFi hotspot with Connectify. Connectify can also act as a repeater for your home router, extending its range and providing Internet access wherever you need it. Connect to your home network, enter the same Wi-Fi name and password, and hit “Start Hotspot.” Devices will automatically connect to the Internet through either your Connectify hotspot.
Even without an active Internet connection, you can still run a Connectify hotspot to share files, folders or drives on your network as well as the ability to play LAN games with others wirelessly.
