5 Tips to Boost Your iOS 5 Experience
The iOS is updated so frequently that a lot of people often miss important new features that they could use to improve their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch experience. The latest updates to iOS 5.0 and 5.1 add some great usability and productivity options to iPhone 4S and iPad 3. Here are five tips that will boost your iOS experience and make using your Apple device for day-to-day tasks even easier than before.
Tips To Enhance iOS 5 Experience
1. Delete multiple apps
Deleting apps you no longer need one by one is a tiresome and time-consuming task. iOS 5 provides a quicker way to get rid of apps right from the Settings app. All you need to do is go to Settings and tap on Usage. You will be presented with a list of your apps and their size (both app size and data size). Simply tap the apps you want to remove and then tap the Delete App button.
2. Dock folders
Putting apps in Dock is a very handy iOS function. But what if you have a whole folder of apps that you use frequently? No problem! iOS 5 has a solution to that and now you can put folders in your iPhone’s or iPod’s dock, which will help you save screen space.
3. Mark emails as unread
iOS 5 featured some significant Mail upgrades, but the option to mark emails as unread is the best one. Marking or flagging emails is as easy as tapping the Mark button in an email and selecting the appropriate options (either Flag or Mark as Unread). This will only work in iPhone 4S and 3rd generation of iPad.
4. Use dictation commands on iPhone 4S and iPad 3
Are you taking advantage of dictation commands? If not, then you are missing out. Your device has built-in speech dictation functionality (similar to dictation software like Dragon), which can be used in literally any app that supports keyboard text input. Using the dictation software will save you from typing and mis-typing thing using your tiny iPhone keyboard. Just a note: you’ll need to speak in full sentences, as the software will type what you said only after you finish your sentences and tap Done.
5. Delete duplicate files
Duplicate songs and photos are the bane of every smartphone or tablet PC owner, iOS users included. Because mobile devices have limited storage space compared to laptops and desktop computers, deleting duplicate files is very important. It will help you free up valuable storage space and keep the files on your device organized. Deleting duplicate songs and images manually is time-consuming and sometimes unsafe, as you risk accidentally removing a file you need. And even though iTunes has the functionality to remove duplicate songs, it’s not very accurate. That’s why the best option is to use third-party software, like Easy Duplicate Finder, that supports iOS devices. Make sure the program of your choice can match files by multiple criteria, especially by checksum and file content. That way you will eliminate the possibility of accidental file removal.
